We, the People of the Big 12 Fantasy Football League, in order to Promote a more perfect game, Disregard domestic tranquility, Scout obscure players in faraway places, Spend inordinate amounts of money on newsstand sports magazines with questionable value, Peer endlessly over columns of stats, and Curse inaccurate injury reports, hereby establish this Constitution as the Official Rulebook for Fantasy Football play.

I. Teams

There are 12 teams in the Big 12 South League for 2023 (Updated 8/28/23).

II. League Operation

  • League Platform: Sleeper App

  • The season lasts from Week 1 to Week 17 of the NFL's regular season.

  • Scheduled randomized by Sleeper App Default. You likely play every team in the league one time, and 3 teams twice.

  • The league is based on an overall win/loss record.  Weeks 15-17 are playoffs.

South Playoff Explanation:

  • Top 2 teams (based on record) will be seeded 1st and 2nd and receive a 1st round bye.

  • 3, 4, 5, 6 seeds are selected based on next best record.

  • Tie-breaker method for playoff seedings (if between 2 teams).

    • 1) Team that won regular season series holds tie-breaker (head to head)

    • 2) If series is tied 1-1, overall total pts will be used to break tie.

    • 3) If total pts are the same, tie breaker will be the team with best all league play record.

  • Tie-breaker method for playoff seedings (if more than 2 teams involved).

    • 1) Overall total pts will be used to break tie.

    • 2) If pts are exactly same, tie breaker will be best all league play record.

    • 3) If all league play record is the same, the team(s) entering playoffs on longest current winning streak will get in.

  • Tie-breaker method during playoff games in the South:

    • 1)  Bench points

    • 2) Total TD's for starters

    • 3) Regular season overall record

  • Playoff Schedule:

    • Round 1 (week 15): 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5

    • Round 2 (week 16): 1 vs. 4 or 5; 2 vs. 3 or 6

    • Finals (week 17)

    • *All weekly scores are not final  (official) until Thursday morning after the NFL updates and corrects statistics.

 III. Player Draft

  • A.  Draft Time and Date:

    • South draft will usually be held on the second the last Saturday in August (am). (Always subject to change)

  • B.  Draft Order:

    • The draft order for the south is reverse order of the final standings the previous year (after the playoff and bottom feeder contest).

  • C.  Draft Type:

    • Owners build their team through a traditional snake draft.

  • D.   Rounds:

    • The draft consists of 16 rounds.  Once a draft selection has been presented to the Commissioner, it cannot be  rescinded.

  • E. Franchise/Keeper:

    • You may franchise (keep) one player (def team/def player can count) each season. The player must be drafted by you in the 7th round or later to be kept one additional season (held on roster a maximum of 2 total seasons). He must also be on your roster the entire season (all 17 weeks). If you trade or drop the player at any time during the season, you cannot franchise him. If you choose to keep the player, it will take the place of that particular round pick the next year. A franchise player can be any position. Franchise Rule has been voted on being the same for the 2023 season.

      • Suspended Player Exception: Any player who was suspended for 6 or more games at the time of Draft cannot be franchised the following year.

  • F.  Owner unable to be present on draft day:

    • If you cannot be present for whatever reason an owner has the following options:

      • You can draft remotely via the app, but the 2 minute per pick time limit will be strictly enforced.

      • You can submit a pre draft list (round by round) such as ranking your players or have your team auto picked based on the next highest available player.

      • You can have someone represent you as a stand in.

  • G. You cannot draft someone who is on IR or PUP and place them on IR to free up a roster spot for free agents before week 1 starts. After Week 1 they can be put on IR with no issue.

IV. Rosters

  • A. The maximum roster is 16 players.

  • B. Each roster must consist of the following:

    • 1 QB

    • 2 RB

    • 1 TE

    • 2 WR

    • 1 K

    • 1 DF/TM.

    • There are 6 extra positions on the roster.  These players may be from any position.

  • C. The final say on roster/position eligibility will be what position the player is listed as on Sleeper.

V. Starting Lineups

  • A. Starting lineups consist of the following (ESPN Standard):

    • 1 QB

    • 2 RB

    • 1 TE

    • 2 WR

    • 1 K

    • 1 DF/TM

    • 1 Flex Pos player - Flex starter each week can be RB, WR, or TE

  • B. The deadline for submitting starting lineups is the kickoff of that particular players game.

  • C. Regular Starting Lineup: You are responsible for submitting a starting lineup each week. If an owner fails to submit a lineup for a certain week, the lineup from the previous week will be used.  If you have a player off (or injured) that week it is the owners responsibility to let commish know.

        •

VI.  Transactions / Trades

  1. Free agents may be obtained through Free Agency/Waivers.

  2. For a transaction to be valid, the owner must notify the Commissioner or log into the website to complete the roster move.

  3. No league voting for trades. If both agree commish will be notified and process trade.

  4. Once a transaction has been made, it cannot be rescinded.

  5. You cannot trade a player back to the the original owner. *No  temporary trades.. No more than 3 players can be traded  at a time to another team. The trade deadline for the South is the kickoff of Week 12.

  6. Draft Picks cannot be used in trades

  7. Players may be waived at any time for any reason.  When a player is waived, he becomes available in the free agent pool.  He can then be re-acquired or acquired by another team immediately after waiving.

  8. Waivers:

    1. Weekly FAAB Waivers Run just after MIdnight CST on Wednesday/Thursday Night

    2. Each team is allotted $100 of FAAB money for the season

    3. After that time, players become "Free Agents" (able to be acquired in real time without effecting your Waiver position until their team's game kicks off that week).

    4. A players ability to be acquired becomes locked upon their game kick off each week and then they are put on the waiver list.

    5. Rolling Waivers

      1. Owners who wish to pick up a player on waivers may put in their waiver wire request online through the app.  Keep in mind that if you decide you want a player you are not necessarily going to get him.  Someone else may put in a request for the same player later that day or later in the week.

      2. Our league operates on "Rolling Waivers". Rolling waivers are continuous and the last person to waiver a player is placed last into the waiver priority. For every successful waiver claim, that team owner drops to the bottom of the order, while everyone else moves up one. At league start the Waiver order is reverse of draft order.

  9. Once a player is acquired via a trade or free agency, he cannot be traded for at least 1 full week. (Can't play the same week acquired on another fantasy team). You can, however, drop the player sooner than 1 week.

  10. Beginning Wednesday evening at 9ish pm after Waivers run, waiver wire system will become first come, first serve. This means between Wednesday night through kick off of their game that week, any player who has not started a game yet is a "Free Agent". Owners can add/drop as they wish. In the south you must still be in contention of bottom feeder or playoffs to make moves once the playoffs begin.

  11. Back Up Rule:

    1. Beginning Tuesday after games have been played, if you have a player who is now OUT, IR, PUP, or COV from that week you have the option of obtaining a backup player from their ACTUAL team before Waivers begin. The following conditions must be met:

      1. The Player being replaced must be O, IR, PUP, or COV status when attempting to replace

      2. The replacing player must be same position on the same team as the injured player

      3. You must communicate this change with the commish

      4. If you are unable to get the request in before regular Waivers Run then tough luck.

      5. Can Make this move even in the playoffs

      6. If a player is injured (listed as Out, PUP, COV or IR on Sleeper) the owner must decide before regular waivers run if he or she wants to use the backup rule. The backup rule can only be used between Tues 12 AM-Wed night 9 pm. After this time limit if I do not hear from the owner with the injured player that week, he will be available for anyone to acquire through waivers.

      7. You can still use the Back Up rule after waivers begin and before the replacement players game starts, but must let the commish know. The Back-Up rule just allows you to have "dibs" on them before waivers begin.

      8. A player from any position on your roster can be dropped to keep the roster limit at the legal limit.

VII. Injured Reserve

  • 2 IR spots for O, IR, COV, or PUP.

VIII.  League Governance
The Commissioner is vested with the following powers:

  • a)      interpret the Constitution as he sees just and fit

  • b)      settle all position eligibility disputes

  • c)      preside over draft and settle draft disputes

  • d)      distribute free agents fairly

  • e)      provide timely weekly reports

  • f)        maintain integrity of the league and its owners

  • g)      approve all transactions

IX.  Extraordinary Situations

  • Amendments to the Constitution are allowed.  For an amendment to be passed, 2/3 of the league owners & Commissioner must approve.

  • If an owner is considered by the Commissioner to be conducting himself in a manner not in the best in erest of the league, he may be removed.  However, a warning is issued first.  If the warning fails and 2/3 of the league recommends the owner to be removed he can be dismissed. This league was founded on the idea of conducting our game of Fantasy Football at a very competitive level.  Each team owner is a major part of this process and is essential in making the league a success.

Scoring System
Check scoring settings in the Sleeper App. Much easier than putting it here.

The Survivor Game:

Each week, the owner with the fewest points will be eliminated from the contest.  The contest will span from Week 1 to Week 11.  Once youve been eliminated, you are out for good.  Therefore, if you score the fewest points in a week, but have already been eliminated, the person with the next fewest points is eliminated.  The tie breaker for a particular week if needed will be owner with lowest overall total pts for the season who gets eliminated.

Last one standing wins.

See partial example below:

Week 1:   Carlos scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated ( 11 left)

Week 2:   Shawn scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated ( 10 left)

Week 3:   Jimmy scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated (   9 left)

Week 4:   Shawn scores the fewest pts, but is already out.

The person with the 2nd fewest pts. is out         (  8 left)

OLD RULES THAT WERE VOTED OUT

  • Last Minute Inactive Player Policy: (CANCELLED THIS RULE IN 2022!!!)

    • Many times a player is a game time decision as to whether he plays or not. If an owner submits a player in starting lineup and that player does not play (OUT) any snaps at all, another player on the fantasy team of the same position can be used under two options:

      • Future Game Replacement:

        • Someone on your roster at same position who hasn't played yet may be subbed in after game start by letting commissioner know. For this replacement - the replacement player's game must not have started.

      • Declared Backup:

        • If an owner feels that in advance of a game that someone in their starting lineup may be OUT, they can let the league chat know of their "Back Up" player before their game starts and that player can be plugged-in in place of the player who did not take a snap even if the starting player to be replaced plays after the replacement player - as long as it is declared before the replacement player's kick-off

        • Please try to use this rule only when really needed (Questionable injury status leading up to game is a reasonable use)

        • Can be used for more than one player in the same week if both are legitamately potentially out

    1. Rolling Waivers (VOTED OUT IN 2023 in favor of FAAB)
